Family dynamics:
The first thing Puck says about his family is that “his dad’s a deadbeat.” He doesn’t have any male role models and ends up looking to the guys in Glee club as male role models and says he “lucked out.” Getting thrown in the dumpster makes him feel like “human garbage.” Thinks…
Why fandom differentiates between Will and Sue
So nadiacreek made a post about how we react differently to Sue favoring students than we do to Will doing the same thing, which prompted this discussion about both characters and how it ties to the nature of the New Directions and the Cheerios.
Personally, I think our reaction is different because of how the show portrayed both characters. From the very first episode, Glee drew a comparison between Sue and Will, establishing Will as protagonist and Sue as the antagonist. The glaring difference between the two teachers only served the purpose of making Sue the obvious ‘villain’ in the show. Will was trying to build something while Sue was doing her best to destroy it. The show wanted us to see it this way and wanted us to like Will.
